The Founder AKA Projects Coordinator AKA Fitness Instructor AKA Jessie...
Hi, my name is Jessie Wallis and this is my dream, to build a career in experiential learning (aka hands-on-learning). I believe in the potential experiential learning has to help people with life skills, learn new anythings, meet new people, & build memories.
From 2004 on, I researched, took courses & experienced life & the lessons that go along with life. Overall wellness of body, mind and spirit have become very important to me; in effect, wanting to help others achieve their fitness goals, stay healthy, get centred, have fun using different hands on strategies, and become aware of how to positively change their own lives. We spend more time at work than anywhere else, so enjoying what I do as a career is very important to me.
I found this career path through what I call my "Happy Accident". After travelling throughout Western Europe and camping out next to a kids camp in Vallon Pont D'Arc, France in 2004, the following year I got a job at that camp. I got to see the real benefits of hands-on learning. It was an inspiring experience and I needed it in my life. When I returned home, I decided to take the Coastal Adventure Tourism certificate program at North Island College. I then continued into a diploma in Adventure Tourism and was also able to simultaneously take a Tourism and Hospitality Management Diploma; in turn, graduating with 2 diplomas. I have completed a BCRPA certified Group fitness certificate from Body Blueprint. I have specialized in strength, pilates, stretch, & boxing (as I have experience in the ring). In the future, I will certify in yoga.
I was raised by a single mother who worked very hard for me to have a life. Many kids get to go to camp, or travel with their classes, because of my mother being a single parent it wasn't until I was 23 that I was able to actually go to camp, and that was as a leader. I fell in love almost instantaneously and hope that the projects I put together will help others have the ability to participate in activities THEY want.
I currently live in Courtenay BC, planning new projects for the future.
Philosophies, well, kind of...
Throughout my life I've been told that my philosophies are ones that take me "outside the box". And that's the story of many great leaders. So here's to laws of attraction & wishful thinking.
On that note, a quote shall we : The two most important days of your life are 1st- the day you were born & 2nd- the day you find out why. I took steps to find out why and hope that you will incorporate this business in your journey too, or to just add a little extra outside the box style thinking.
To help understand the ideals of OTB Project, I'd like to share a few of the philosophies I have built into the projects:
- Motivate leadership through structure and self respect
- Healthy living begins with a positive outlook> inward
- Common Respect, Common Sense, & a Sense of Humor is KEY in life
- If it's not FUN don't do it (look up The 8 Irresistible Principles of FUN : amazing)
Kind Wishes,
~Jessie Wallis
